Jon Baker is an EU Qualified Person (Permanent Provisions) with over 30 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, spanning commercial and clinical manufacturing, packaging, and distribution across a wide range of dosage forms.

Jon has held senior technical and leadership roles within global pharmaceutical organisations and contract environments, developing extensive expertise in Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), quality systems, and regulatory compliance. His career includes positions such as Director of Quality Operations and Qualified Person at Valneva Scotland Ltd., where he led multidisciplinary quality functions including Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Regulatory Affairs, and Contamination Control, while also contributing to site executive and global operational strategy.

As a Contract Qualified Person through JB QP Solutions Ltd., Jon provides QP certification services, GMP compliance oversight, internal auditing, and regulatory consulting to a range of clients. His work also encompasses the design and delivery of GMP training programmes, support for regulatory inspections, and troubleshooting complex quality and operational challenges.

Jon has significant experience in leading quality transformation and compliance improvement initiatives. Notably, in his role as Head of Quality and Qualified Person at Cross Healthcare Ltd., he was responsible for QP certification activities across high‑volume parallel import operations and played a key role in delivering a compliance improvement programme that successfully exited regulatory supervision.

Throughout his career, Jon has demonstrated strong leadership in quality governance, batch certification, deviation and investigation management, audit hosting, and supplier oversight. He is recognised for his pragmatic approach, effective problem‑solving, and ability to work collaboratively across functions and organisations to deliver robust and compliant outcomes.

Jon holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Industrial Pharmaceutical Science (Distinction) and a BSc (Hons) in Applied Biology. He is an active member of the Royal Society of Biology and the Pharmaceutical Quality Group, and currently serves as a QP Assessor on behalf of the Royal Society of Biology.

In his spare time, in recent years, Jon has built a custom motorcycle, he is a volunteer rider for Blood Bikes Scotland and the drummer for bar-based stadium rock band, Lateral Flow.
